First, some background:
Last December, the overly lengthy investigation by the Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of the Inspector General (OIG), headed by Michael Horowitz culminated in a 434-page report.
Horowitz reported that FBI attorney Kevin Clinesmith had falsified – deliberately altered – an email to falsely state that Page had never worked with the CIA to investigate suspected Russia agents operating within the U.S.
In fact, the original email clearly stated that Donald Trump’s campaign associate Carter Page had worked for both the CIA and with the FBI.
Clinesmith was aware of this exculpatory information prior to the first FISA application yet failed to disclose it to the FISC. He then went so far as to alter it to change its meaning in order to bolster the third renewal.
According to the AP, Corrupt FBI attorney Kevin Clinesmith has pleaded guilty to making a false statement.
The plea agreement leads us to believe that John Durham, the U.S. attorney assigned by Attorney General William Barr with determining the extent of the criminal conspiracy appears to have more prominent targets in sight.
Due to the shortness of the charging Information filing — it was only five pages — and contained only a single Count of filing a false document we are led to assume that Clinesmith is cooperating with investigators.
Durham could have indicted Clinesmith under 18 USC §1519, destruction of federal investigative records. That charge carries a 20 year maximum sentence.
The fact that Durham accepted Clinesmith’s plea to violating 18 U.S. Code § 1001… that carries a potential maximum sentence of 5 years… Suggests Durham is “trading up.” It appears Clinesmith is trading incriminating testimony in exchange for leniency.
Trading up is the most common way RICO investigations eventually garner the evidence/testimony necessary to bring down a corrupt organization’s higher-ups.
If Crossfire Hurricane’s main FBI lawyer is cooperating this could be devastating for former CIA Director John Brennan, former FBI Director James Comey, and a host of other high-level witnesses who have yet to be put under oath by Durham.
Though he’s received little attention until now, FBI attorney Clinesmith was a key player in Crossfire Hurricane… the plot to destroy President Trump’s presidency…
Kevin Clinesmith was not a bit player in Crossfire Hurricane.
*He worked with Strzok to arrange sending an FBI agent into Trump-Flynn briefing.
*He was on the Mueller team
*He took part in Papadopoulos interviews
*He was part of FISA process. https://t.co/hJynsJ5jhs

Clinesmith acknowledged his concern that his involvement in the attempted coup would surface in a text exchange with FBI unit chief in the Office of General Counsel, Sally Moyer…
“I’m just devastated,” Clinesmith texted to Moyer after Trump won the 2016 election. “Plus, my god damned name is all over the legal documents investigating his staff.”
