It is hard to imagine that our post-Vietnam nation’s government would leave Afghanistan, abandoning US citizens and Afghans who assisted our military in fighting terrorism in their country for 20 years. The White House and Capitol Hill have been reporting conflicting information on a range of issues.
No one in the Biden administration knows or will admit how many Americans are trying to get out of Afghanistan.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken: U.S. Doesn’t Know Accurate Number of Stranded or Evacuated Americans
Secretary of State Antony Blinken told reporters that the Biden administration does not know the exact number of Americans seeking to leave Afghanistan or of those who have been evacuated, suggesting that some U.S. travelers bear some responsibility for not registering with the embassy in Kabul and ignoring public evacuation and no travel notices.
He said there are approximately 1,500 people who may be Americans left in Afghanistan. Still, the Biden administration does not know for sure 11 days after the evacuation operations began August 14, on the eve of the Taliban declaring victory from Kabul, stressing that estimates are fluid.

Chair of the House Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff warns it’s ‘unlikely’ Biden will rescue all Americans and Afghan allies before the August 31 deadline after a classified briefing.
Joe Biden is ‘unlikely’ to meet his August 31 deadline to evacuate US citizens and their allies from Afghanistan, the chair of the House Intelligence Committee said Monday. Adam Schiff made the grim prediction after an intelligence briefing Monday evening, as the Taliban rejected a mooted extension to the withdrawal date.
Schiff said a full evacuation was ‘possible’ but ‘very unlikely given the number of Americans who still need to be evacuated, the number of SIV’s, the number of others who are members of the Afghan press, civil society leaders, women leaders.’
White House has been reporting that all US Citizens who want to leave Afghanistan have been allowed to get to the airport.
Numerous stories have been reported contradicting their assessment.
Other nations are also having problems getting their citizens out also. The UK Shadow Secretary Raab Pressure told Sky News HUNDREDS of stranded civilians are being shot at, beaten, turned away at checkpoints by Taliban terrorists in Kabul.
Shadow foreign secretary Lisa Nandy says her office "is in touch with hundreds of people" who cannot reach the Baron Hotel or Hamid Karzai International Airport and "who have been shot at, beaten and turned away at check points". https://t.co/cF2rhlL01C pic.twitter.com/VUtonSZMvf
