When someone belongs to a political party other than their own, one thing that people frequently do is examine and criticize how much time the sitting president spends on vacation. Democrats constantly criticized President Trump when he was in office for taking vacations, but they criticized him the most for making time to play golf on his golf clubs.
Republicans also used to treat Barack Obama in the same manner when he was in office. Republicans would criticize Obama for taking frequent vacations and engaging in frequent rounds of golf as well.
I’ll admit that I used to treat Obama in the same manner. In retrospect, Barack Obama didn’t actually spend a lot of time traveling. Obama spent 328 days on vacation, if what I discovered on Wikipedia is true, even though I am aware that it is frequently inaccurate and contains biased information. I wonder whether there are any situations where Wikipedia isn’t considering something as a vacation, but are considering it a vacation if President Trump did it.
Comparatively, President Trump spent 381 days on vacation according to that Wikipedia article. That would amount to about 26% of the time bet he spent on vacation. If that is accurate than that is just like saying that one of the four years of President Trump was in office, he was on vacation. I highly doubt that this is true. In fact, there are many things that I would say were not a vacation at all. This article is counting any times that he went and played golf as a vacation day or any time that he was at his own property. Just because I go play golf that day doesn’t mean that I didn’t work that day or was on vacation.
And actually, whenever I go to the source that Wikipedia cites, I see the number 281 days at gulf properties and that makes me wonder if that’s what they’re considering as vacation.
But that’s not the point I want to make. Here is what I actually want to point out. Joe Biden has been in office or a little over 500 days so far. He has spent more than 200 of them on vacation. It seems like every time he comes back from a vacation he packs up and goes on another one. As of right now Joe Biden has spent approximately 40% of his time as president on vacation.
According to the New York Post,
President Biden is taking heat for spending 40% of his days in office “on vacation” after he was away from the White House for two-thirds of August.
Biden’s weekend jaunts and vacations spanned 234 days — with seven in 10 of them spent at his homes in Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware — out of 589 days in office.
RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel told The Post that Republicans believe it’s a winning campaign issue — alongside concerns over the effects of Biden-era spending, including Democrats’ $1.9 trillion stimulus package last year and this year’s $437 billion environmental and health care bill.
The 19-month tally of Biden trips was assembled by the RNC and is consistent with independent journalistic counts. It includes days that Biden spent at his Delaware residences as well as days at the presidential retreat at Camp David, Maryland, and trips to Nantucket, Massachusetts, and Kiawah Island, South Carolina.
