Texas has been struck with tragedy, which has rippled across the country. Following a mass shooting at an elementary school on Tuesday, 21 individuals were killed, practically all of them children.
It crushes my heart to hear this, and I believe we need to do something to prevent it from occurring again; I’m just disappointed that it would necessarily come after this and not before.
Here’s where I’m going to make a prediction. This time, I believe that something concrete will be done about gun laws. I believe Congress will act quickly while people are emotional about the situation, since this one is truly terrible. I’m not saying it’s going to be the right thing to do, in fact, if what we know about Democrats has taught us anything, all they’re going to do is try to steal our rights.
I’m not quite sure what sort of legislation they will go after, but I would imagine that it’s going to be banning “assault rifles” and/or high-capacity magazines.
If you ask me, they’re going after the wrong thing. They should be doing something about mental health across the country and security at schools.
But honestly, the easiest and fastest way to actually stop school shootings and eliminate the risk of your or anyone else’s children being harmed is to never send them to public school again. I know I say that from time to time, and if you’re tired of hearing it I’m sorry, but prove me wrong.
The thing is that you never know when or where the next school shooting will take place. It may never happen in your town, or it might. It never happens in any particular town until it does. But if your children aren’t going to public school, they are at no risk of a mass school shooting. I know it’s hard and many people may not be able to do that right now without making some changes in their lives, but it is worth it.
