The NYT has revealed that the DOJ has opened an investigation into John Bolton. They are probing whether Bolton disclosed any classified information in his book,  “The Room Where It Happened.” Bolton had signed a non disclosure agreement with the administration.

The Trump campaign had tried to stop Bolton from publishing his book, but the judge said there ware already hundreds of thousands of copies of the books out there and could not be undone. But he warned that Bolton could face criminal and civil penalties for any classified information in the book. Bolton could be tried under the Espionage Act at ten years per violation.

Judge Royce C. Lamberth of the Federal District Court of the District of Columbia ruled:

“With hundreds of thousands of copies around the globe — many in newsrooms — the damage is done. There is no restoring the status quo. Bolton has gambled with the national security of the United States. He has exposed his country to harm and himself to civil (and potentially criminal) liability. But these facts do not control the motion before the court. The government has failed to establish that an injunction will prevent irreparable harm.”

Lamberth said that he was convinced that Bolton was endangering national security. But even though he did not place an injunction on the book, Bolton was gambling his freedom for any classified information that might appear in the book.

John Ratcliffe the newly appointed head of the DNI had referred possible crimes to the DOJ for investigation. But if he has revealed any secrets, Bolton could be facing stiff penalties under federal law.

The NYT printed:

“John Demers, the head of the department’s national security division, then opened the criminal investigation, according to a person briefed on the case.”

“Bolton had agreed to let national security officials review any book he might eventually write before publication in order to make sure that it contained no classified information. The department accused Mr. Bolton of giving Simon & Schuster permission to publish his book before he had official signoff that his prepublication review was complete.”

From The Daily Wire

Charles J. Cooper, Bolton’s attorney, said that the Trump administration had dallied in their efforts to deem if the information revealed was classified, the Times reported, noting that the National Security Council’s top official for prepublication review said Bolton had made appropriate edits regarding classified information and that the White House conducted another review. The affidavit from that review stated that the book displayed multiple instances of classified information in the manuscript.

The Times reported, “Even though Mr. Bolton did not receive a final approval letter from the White House, he told Simon & Schuster to publish anyway.”

Judge Lamberth said that this is where Bolton is gambling on his freedom. Bolton told Simon and Schuster to publish his book before a review looking for classified information was completed. President Trump had fired Bolton.  Bolton appears to be looking for revenge. A single count of printing classified material under the Espionage act is punishable by up to ten years in a federal prison, but he could also be facing multiple counts.

Washed up Creepster John Bolton is a lowlife who should be in jail, money seized, for disseminating, for profit, highly Classified information. Remember what they did to the young submarine sailor, but did nothing to Crooked Hillary. I ended up pardoning him – It wasn’t fair! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 23, 2020

Bolton did defend the president against the false charge of disparaging the troops. Bolton has said that had Trump actually said it he would have written an entire chapter on the episode. Over a dozen others say the charge is bogus. The Atlantic has published fake stories before. It is not much of a stretch to think they have again.

President Trump has been the most active president in supporting our troops. He has remodeled the failed VA hospitals. He threw many of them out the door. The VA was failing to treat our veterans. They then tried to cover it up. People were dying just waiting to see a doctor. This is no way to treat our heroes. President Trump also pushed through a long overdue pay raise for the troops.

He has spoken to our troops. He has met planes returning the bodies of our fighting men and women. The men and women in the military did not believe the Atlantic’s story, but instead are showing support for the president.

It’s the Democrats who regularly dump on our soldiers. They call them baby killers. Yet not one liberal would have the guts to put their lives on the line like our soldiers do. But they still insult our soldiers.

John Bolton has never met a war he didn’t like. I suppose he was upset that the president intended to end wars, not initiate them. he had to go. He now wants Trump to pay the price, but he is not the one who should be ashamed. It is Bolton.
