Acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf slammed House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff’s new whistleblower, Brian Murphy.
We expected nothing less.
Adam Schiff has all of the credibility of a five year old child with chocolate all over their face. Deny all you want, but don’t expect to be believed. Aside from being a serial leaker, he is also a serial liar.
Who can forget his nightly show on CNN, where he swore there was proof that Trump colluded with Russia? Schiff swore that he had seen the evidence. He now insists he has a new whistleblower that will end Trump’s presidency. He will make that claim right up until January 20th, 2025.
Schiff had no problem revealing the name of this whistleblower. He went to extreme measures to keep the identity of the last one secret. They do have one thing in common: Both made bogus claims. Schiff accuses the DHS officials of seeking to “politicize, manipulate, and censor intelligence to benefit President Trump. He claims they are suppressing information on Russian interference in the election.
How does Schiff know about Russian interference? Oh, yes, the DHS briefed him on it. However, Schiff conveniently hid the fact that China and Iran are interfering in favor of Biden. That too was disclosed in the DHS briefing. The briefing was held on July 31st,2020. By August first, the briefing was leaked to the newspapers minus Chinese support for Biden.
The head of the DNI, John Ratcliffe was disturbed by the leaks and announced that further briefings would only include top House members. That will make it harder to leak since such a low number of people would be included. That would make it easier to narrow down the list of potential leakers, but the briefings would continue.
Speaker Pelosi and Schiff said the following in a statement regarding the change:
“This is a shocking abdication of its lawful responsibility to keep the Congress currently informed, and a betrayal of the public’s right to know how foreign powers are trying to subvert our democracy,” Pelosi and Schiff said in a statement. “The American people have both the right and the need to know that another nation, Russia, is trying to help decide who their president should be.” “We expect the Administration and Intelligence Community to keep us fully and accurately informed, and resume the briefings,” they added. “If they are unwilling to, we will consider the full range of tools available to the House to compel compliance.”
From Schiff’s letter:
“But this complaint also puts into stark relief how dangerous and harmful it is for American voters that the Trump Administration has decided to end briefings to Congress about foreign interference in our upcoming election. Last month, in a bid to prevent informing the American people and its elected representatives about Russian efforts to help President Trump and hurt Joe Biden, the Trump Administration announced that it would cease briefing Congress in person, and rely on written products alone. But if written products are being altered for political reasons, or worse withheld entirely, how can the American people trust that this Administration will inform voters on how foreign powers are trying to influence them, or where the threats really come from, and protect our national security— particularly when it contradicts the President’s preferred narrative or personal political interests? In short, they can’t, and that’s dangerous.
Murphy claimed that Wolf instructed him not to divulge Russian interference. That’s strange because Wolf held over 40 briefings on the subject and even spoke in interviews on the subject. Bret Baier noted that Rep Bennie Thompson said Wolf was evading a subpoena to testify in front of the House. Wolf said that he offered to testify twice.
